The Most Unexpectedly Cool Collectible of 2026 Has Arrived
Okay, hear me out. We know this isn’t your typical anime figure drop — but if you’re the kind of collector who appreciates insane attention to detail, premium materials, and niche Japanese craftsmanship, then buckle up, because First Gear just announced something that absolutely slaps. 🔥
The Komatsu Mining Dump Truck / Excavator Double-Sided Embossed Metal Keychain is exactly the kind of hyper-specific, deeply cool collectible that only Japan produces — and it’s coming to import shelves in August 2026 via Platz.
What Even IS This Thing? (And Why You Need It)
Let’s break it down. This is a nickel-made, antique-finish, matte keychain featuring detailed embossed illustrations of Komatsu’s legendary large-scale mining vehicles — the kind of absolute unit dump trucks and excavators you see dominating open-pit mines worldwide. 🏔️💥
Front side? A massive Komatsu mining dump truck rendered in gorgeous embossed detail.
Back side? A hulking excavator (shovel car) with equally jaw-dropping precision.
The craftsmanship here is no joke. Every vehicle detail is delicately and faithfully illustrated — this isn’t some cheap stamped piece of metal. It’s a legitimate antique-style collectible with real texture and character.

Why Construction Machinery Fans Are Going Wild 🤯
Komatsu (Komatsu Ltd.) is one of Japan’s most iconic heavy machinery manufacturers, and their mining-grade equipment is genuinely legendary in engineering circles worldwide. To see that legacy captured in a premium antique metal keychain — double-sided, no less — is honestly a flex move by First Gear.
This is the kind of merch that bridges the gap between hardcore machinery enthusiasts and serious collectible fans. It’s niche. It’s quality. It’s unmistakably Japanese in its obsessive attention to detail. That’s exactly the vibe we live for here in Akihabara. 🇯🇵✨
Miss this and you’ll be hunting it on the aftermarket. You already know how this goes.
