iPhone 18 Pro Starts at ¥219,800 in Japan — No Standard iPhone This Year and It’s Wild 😤

Wait… No Regular iPhone This Year?! 😱

You heard that right. Apple has officially gone full “Pro or nothing” with the iPhone 18 lineup, and honestly? The anime merch budget is sweating right now. The iPhone 18 Pro has been officially announced for Japan, launching on September 18, and the starting price is a jaw-dropping ¥219,800. That’s not a typo. That’s real money.

For the international collectors and fans tuning in — that’s roughly in the territory of several high-end scale figures, a complete Blu-ray boxset, or a weekend trip to Akihabara. The stakes are real.

The Price That Hurts 💸

Let’s break it down:

• Model: iPhone 18 Pro
• Japan Launch Date: September 18
• Starting Price: ¥219,800
• Standard/Base iPhone 18: Does. Not. Exist. 🪦

Apple has essentially discontinued the non-Pro line for this generation, making the iPhone 18 Pro the entry point for anyone wanting a new iPhone. There’s no budget escape route this cycle.

Why Should Anime Fans Care? 🤔

Look, as someone living in Akihabara, I see you. You’re overseas, you follow Japanese retail drops, and your wallet is already stretched thin from pre-orders. Here’s the deal — Japan pricing on Apple products has been hit hard by yen fluctuation, and ¥219,800 reflects that reality brutally.

If you’re importing goods, using proxy services, or just budgeting your Japan haul for the next cour of releases — factor this in. Your phone upgrade might have to wait. The Evangelion diorama is not waiting.

The “No Muji” Era Begins 📱

The Japanese tech community is already calling this the “無印なし” (muji nashi — no standard model) era of iPhone. It’s a significant shift. Apple is betting everything on the Pro tier, and whether you love it or hate it, it’s happening September 18.

For collectors and fans who use their phone to hunt Yahoo Auctions, browse Solaris Japan, and catch seasonal anime announcements at 3 AM — your next device just got a lot more expensive.

Final Take 🎯

Is it worth it? That’s above my pay grade as a figure reviewer. But what I do know is that the announcement is real, the price is real, and September 18 is coming fast. No standard model. No compromise. No mercy on your wallet. Classic Apple energy.
