NHK’s Gu-Choco Lantern Characters Are Getting the Cutest Gacha Figures Ever — and We’re Losing It 😭🎰

The Nostalgia Hit Nobody Saw Coming 💥

Okay, collectors — buckle up, because Takaratomy Arts just dropped a nostalgia bomb that’s going to wreck your emotions AND your wallet. Gu-Choco Lantern, the iconic NHK puppet show that aired inside “Okaasan to Issho” from 2000 to 2009, is getting its very own Kata-Zun Fig. gacha capsule figure series, and honestly? We are not okay. 😭

For those who grew up with Japanese kids’ TV, Gu-Choco Lantern is basically the equivalent of your most wholesome childhood memory in plushie form. And now those precious characters are getting immortalized in one of the most adorable figure concepts we’ve seen in a LONG time.

What Is the “Kata-Zun Fig.” Series? 🤔

If you haven’t heard of the Kata-Zun Fig. concept yet, let us introduce you to your new obsession. The idea is devastatingly simple and devastatingly cute: each figure is posed as if they’ve accidentally dozed off leaning on someone’s shoulder — that classic “thud” lean we all know and love.

The Japanese word “Zun” captures that satisfying weight of someone leaning into you, and the figures nail it perfectly. Display one solo and it’s adorable. Line them all up together and they chain into an endless shoulder-lean reaction that will break your heart in the best possible way. This is desk decoration SCIENCE, people. 🔬

Meet the 4 Characters in This Set 🌟

Takaratomy Arts is dropping 4 variants in this capsule set, covering the core Gu-Choco Lantern crew:

• 🔵 Spoo (スプー) — The round blue boy himself, looking as trustworthy as ever in his sleepy Kata-Zun pose
• 🌸 Anemu (アネム) — The gentle flower fairy, delicate and dreamy as always
• 🟡 Zuzu (ズズ) — Pure chaotic energy, now rendered in peaceful sleeping form (character growth???)
• 🦎 Jakobi (ジャコビ) — The lovable reptilian guy completing this wholesome squad

Each figure stands at approximately 4.8 to 5.2 cm tall — tiny enough to fit anywhere, powerful enough to destroy your entire display shelf’s theme because you WILL rearrange everything around these.

Why You NEED to Hunt These Down 🎯

Listen. ¥400 per capsule pull is genuinely one of the best value propositions in the figure hobby right now. You’re getting a premium Takaratomy Arts concept figure with a unique interactive display gimmick for the price of a coffee. The craftsmanship on the sample photos alone already looks incredibly faithful to the original puppet characters.

But here’s the real talk — gacha figures sell out fast, and import availability for niche JP-exclusive capsule toys is always limited. If you have any nostalgic connection to NHK children’s programming, or you’re simply a collector who appreciates clever figure concepts, this set is an absolute must-grab. The shoulder-lean chain display alone is worth hunting all 4 variants.

Late August 2026 is coming up fast. Don’t sleep on these (unless you’re sleeping on someone’s shoulder, Kata-Zun style 😏).
