The Classic Ninja Is Making a Huge Comeback 🥷🔥
Hold up, retro gaming fans — Ninja Jajamaru-kun is officially returning with a brand-new title, and this one is NOT your grandpa’s platformer. City Connection dropped the official announcement on August 25th, revealing “Jajamaru no Hyakki Yagyoden” (じゃじゃ丸の百鬼夜行伝) — and the hype is absolutely real.
This is a completely original new entry in the legendary Ninja Jajamaru franchise, and from everything we know so far, it’s shaping up to be something seriously special for fans of action roguelites.
What Kind of Game Is It? 🎮
Straight up — if you’ve been sleeping on this announcement, wake up NOW. Jajamaru no Hyakki Yagyoden is described as a top-down hack-and-slash action roguelite (見下ろしハクスラアクション), with dungeon crawling powered by ninjutsu-based combat mechanics.
And here’s the part that’s going to make every Vampire Survivors addict’s ears perk up — the game reportedly carries strong “Vansaba” (ヴァンサバ) vibes, meaning you can expect that satisfying wave-clearing, build-crafting, survive-as-long-as-you-can energy layered on top of classic ninja action. Mixing old-school Japanese IP with one of the hottest modern game formulas? Absolute genius move.
Why This Is a Big Deal 🇯🇵
The original Ninja Jajamaru-kun debuted back in 1985 on the Famicom and became a beloved piece of Japanese gaming history. City Connection has been reviving retro IPs with serious passion, and this fully original entry signals that Jajamaru isn’t just riding nostalgia — he’s evolving for a new generation of players.
The top-down perspective, the demon parade (百鬼夜行) theme, ninjutsu-fueled dungeon runs — this has cult classic written all over it before it even launches.
Should You Be Hyped? 👀
Absolutely yes. If you love:
- Roguelite dungeon crawlers
- Vampire Survivors-style action
- Classic Japanese retro IP getting modern makeovers
…then Jajamaru no Hyakki Yagyoden just shot straight to the top of your wishlist. Keep your eyes locked on City Connection’s official channels for more details, trailers, and a release date reveal.
This is the kind of announcement that reminds you why Japanese indie and mid-tier game developers are absolutely killing it right now. Don’t sleep on this one. 🥷⚔️
