Mega Man: Dual Override — Proto Man Is BACK and He’s an Absolute Beast 🔵⚔️

The Blue Bomber Just Got a Legendary Co-Star

Hold up, Mega Man fans — Capcom just dropped the hype bomb we didn’t know we needed. During a Nintendo Direct, the second trailer for Mega Man: Dual Override went live, and it confirmed a Spring 2027 release window across basically every major platform imaginable. But the real headline? Proto Man is officially playable — and he hasn’t been in a mainline game since Mega Man 10. That’s a LONG time coming, and oh boy, does he look absolutely 🔥.

Proto Man’s Gameplay Is Everything We Dreamed Of

Let’s be real — Proto Man (Blues in Japan) has always been the cooler, more mysterious counterpart to Mega Man, and Dual Override is finally giving him the spotlight he deserves. Here’s what the new gameplay footage revealed:

• Blues Buster — Short range but high damage output, making him a close-quarters powerhouse
• Blues Shield — Unlocks a variety of attack patterns, turning defense into offense in the slickest way possible
• Special Actions via command inputs — Execute devastating combos, but be careful — overuse causes Proto Man to overheat, and you’ll need to actively manage heat dissipation to keep him in the fight

This isn’t your run-of-the-mill “second character who plays like the first.” Proto Man is built for aggressive, in-your-face combat, rewarding players who love diving headfirst into danger. The risk-reward loop here is chef’s kiss.

The “Override” System Is a Game-Changer ⚡

Here’s where things get SERIOUSLY exciting. Proto Man can trigger the new “Override” system — voluntarily releasing his own limiters to unleash power beyond his normal capabilities for a brief window of time. Sounds busted, right? Here’s the catch:

After Override deactivates, Proto Man suffers a temporary stat penalty across multiple performance metrics. So you’re literally gambling your peak performance for a burst of godlike power. The strategic depth this adds is insane — knowing WHEN to pop Override could be the difference between an S-rank clear and a game over screen.

Custom Chips = Your Build, Your Rules 🎮

The Custom Chip system — which lets you modify and enhance your character’s abilities — is fully available for Proto Man too. Given his unique close-range combat style, there’s going to be a MASSIVE amount of theorycrafting around which chip combinations complement his aggressive playstyle best. This is the kind of system that keeps speedrunners and completionists playing for hundreds of hours.

Platforms — Yeah, It’s Basically EVERYWHERE

Mega Man: Dual Override is dropping on:

• Nintendo Switch 2 & Nintendo Switch
• PlayStation 5 & PlayStation 4
• Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox on PC
• Steam
• Epic Games Store

No excuses. No platform left behind. Capcom wants every single fan to play this, and honestly? We respect it.

amiibo Incoming + Tokyo Game Show 2026 Playable Demo 🎪

Two more massive announcements dropped alongside the gameplay reveal:

🎮 Mega Man & Proto Man amiibo are confirmed to release alongside the game! Details on specs and in-game functionality are still TBA, but just the fact that these are coming is already sending collectors into a frenzy.

🏟️ Tokyo Game Show 2026 (September 17–21 at Makuhari Messe) will feature the first-ever domestic playable demo of Dual Override at the Capcom booth.
