The Witness Creator’s 10-Year Magnum Opus “Order of the Sinking Star” Finally Has a Release Date — and It Looks INSANE 🌟

The Wait Is Almost Over 🎉

Puzzle game fans, this is your sign to pay attention. Thekla — the studio behind the legendary The Witness — has officially announced that their next game, Order of the Sinking Star, is dropping on October 8th. And yes, this has been 10 years in the making. A whole decade. Let that sink in (pun absolutely intended).

What Even IS Order of the Sinking Star? 🌊

If you thought The Witness was mind-bending, brace yourself. Order of the Sinking Star is a puzzle adventure game set across a vast open world packed with over 1,000 “living puzzles.” These aren’t your standard grid-tap nonsense — we’re talking about puzzles that feel alive, dynamic, and deeply integrated into the world around them.

The ambition here is absolutely unreal. Over 1,000 puzzles woven into an expansive environment? That’s not a game, that’s a lifestyle commitment. 😤

Why You Should Be Hyped Beyond Belief 🔥

• The pedigree is unmatched — The Witness is considered one of the greatest puzzle games ever made
• 10 years of dev time means this has been polished to an almost obsessive degree
• 1,000+ living puzzles in an open world sounds like the kind of thing that breaks your brain in the best possible way
• October 8th is RIGHT around the corner — the FOMO is REAL

The Legacy of The Witness 🏆

For those who don’t know, The Witness (2016) was a genre-defining masterpiece that had players exploring a mysterious island filled with panel puzzles that gradually revealed deep, layered mechanics. Critics loved it. Hardcore gamers obsessed over it. And now, nearly a decade later, Jonathan Blow and Thekla are ready to show the world what they’ve been cooking.

If this game delivers even half of what The Witness promised, we’re looking at a game of the year contender right out of the gate.

Mark Your Calendar 📅

October 8th. Write it down. Set an alarm. Tell your friends. Order of the Sinking Star is coming, and the puzzle game community will never be the same.
